Adult Education Students Inspiring and Creating Art In Their Own World!

Week 10

April15

We are in week 10 of our 17 week semester in Adult Education. Student are starting to get the hand of blogging. I am amazed at some of the talent I have amongst me. It also seems as if we are making some head way with Photoshop. I keep telling them that Photoshop is not an easy program but once you learn the tools it does get easier. Today I had some amazing results with our Overlay Project. Hopefully some of the students will post their finished work. The weather is playing tricks on us as during the entire spring break it was beautiful and now they are predicting snow again for tomorrow. If it warms up I will have to take my students outside for some photos they can add to their collection to use for class.

Please, please, please warm up soon!

Week 4

February18

Another week under our belts. Students are starting to pick out their themes this week. After slightly more difficulty than expected, we finally have all of the students(plus one new one) activated and upgraded to pro. YEAH!! Currently, I am creating a checklist for them to complete. So many students work at different paces and I am hoping this will help keep everyone busy.  We have started our first Photoshop project and I am hoping to have some posts in the next few weeks. We would get so much more done if we met more than once a week.

Week 3 of Computer Art

February13

What a challenge getting everyone started. This is week 3 of class but only week 2 of our blog portion. I finally have all of the issues with passwords and emails solved but this week only 4 of my 13 student decided to attend class. We are learning Photoshop the first half of class and creating our blogs the second half of class. Those who were present today were able to get their password and some handouts on getting started. I am confident in the ones who were here today and I know they are going to be getting started soon. I am looking forward to their contributions!

First Day Of Computer Art

January30

Friday, January 28th, 2011 was our first day to start our blogs. I was hopeful and thought it would go smoothly. I should have known better! The students all signed their blog agreements and chose their usernames. We got the password to our first blog and then nothing. That left the rest of the students just hanging around waiting for their new passwords. UGH! They were troopers and I had them check out the scribbler link on the daily art writings page. At least something to buy us some time. Now it is Sunday and I still have not gotten the passwords for the other students. I am hoping the support person will get back to me so I can get the students all back on track. I am looking forward to seeing some of their work published.

My name is Brenda Wilkey and I am an art teacher.  I teach at three different locations that include grades Pr-K through Adult Education. My concentration in college was Electronic Imaging so I am always trying to incorporate the computer and use of technology in our rooms. Stay tuned to see what these amazing students are capable of!
